The “English visa”, as we often call it for short, is in fact a UK visa: it allows you to visit every part of the United Kingdom, not just iconic London.
So how do you apply for a UK visa? First of all, you should know that the whole application process is done online. Of course, you need to take care to use the official government website, where the online form is also completed. The most common mistake is filling in the form without having the relevant documents to hand. Because the questions on the application form relate to your supporting documents, you should gather all the information before you complete your online application. The reason is that once you submit the online application, you can no longer make changes, and this can count against the outcome of your application.
As for the supporting documents, they depend on each person’s personal and financial situation. However, this is only one aspect of your application. Something very important in a UK visa application is the reason for your trip. The person who assesses your application must be satisfied about the purpose of your visit. If you wish to visit the United Kingdom as a tourist, then, as well as showing you can afford the trip, you need to show that you are a genuine tourist, in other words that you have a travel history that supports a genuine tourist purpose. If you wish to visit a close or distant relative, you need to explain and prove your relationship with them, and so on.
Another aspect of a UK visa application is a proper translation into English. There have been quite a few cases where an application was refused because documents were not translated correctly, or because some of them were missing in English, so the application did not properly explain the applicant’s real situation.
The good news is that you will not need an interview. Once you have gathered all the relevant documents for the visa category you are applying for, completed the form and paid the visa fee online, you will need to book an appointment online with the official partner in Albania to give your fingerprints.
At the end of the process, you can either hand in your paper documents to the official partner, for a fee paid on site, or upload them yourself. You choose this through the type of appointment you book: an assisted appointment (where you bring your documents with you on the day of the appointment) or a self-service appointment (where you upload your documents yourself before the date and time of the appointment). Please note: if you attend the appointment without having uploaded your documents online beforehand, you risk being refused for lack of supporting documents.
